Can You Trade the News on a Prop Firm Account?

High-impact economic releases โ NFP, CPI, FOMC โ cause sharp, fast moves that can hit a profit target or blow an account in seconds. Because of that risk, many prop firms restrict trading in a window around scheduled news, while others allow it freely.
The rules vary by firm and sometimes by account type: some prohibit holding positions through the release, some ban opening new trades minutes before and after, and some have no restriction at all. Breaking a news rule can void the offending trades or, in stricter firms, fail the account.
If news trading is core to your strategy, filter for firms that explicitly allow it and read exactly how their window is defined. Our firm pages flag each firm\'s news-trading policy.
